This session is designed to address the issues related to safety and ethics of Internet use in the classroom. We will discuss modeling ethical use of computers for students, dealing with (and heading off) student issues related to Internet use. District acceptable use policies and setting classroom rules will be discussed. We will also touch upon issues related to parent communication using Internet technologies and assisting parents in supporting ethical and safe computer use. Finally we will touch on the National Educational Technology Standards for Students and Teachers on Digital Citizenship and how addressing ethics and safety helps to meet those goals.
